Scenario: Windows XP OEM nowadays includes Service Pack 3 already, this is great because you don’t have to download it again to Microsoft Download Center Website. But there is one issue that I personally encountered, and that is when i install the driver of my motherboards sound card is that, you can’t hear anything, but the weird thing is that all drivers under the Device Manager we’re properly installed.
To fix this problem, here’s how:
1. If you already installed your Windows XP with Service Pack 3, what i would like you to do is to uninstall first your service pack 3.
2. To uninstall the SP3, click on Start, click on Control Panel and double click Add Remove Programs icon.
3. A dialog box “Add or Remove Programs” will appear.
4. In the Currently Installed program under Change or Remove Programs, scroll it down until you find the description “Windows XP Service Pack 3″, click on it and then click Remove button.
5. In that process it will uninstall Service Pack 3 of Windows. Once done, restart your computer without internet connection first and then install your motherboards sound card driver. [Note: I've suggested not to connect your computer to the Internet, so that it will not automatically install Service Pack 3 again].
6. Once your sound card driver installed, restart your PC. That’s it, it will definitely solve the problem.
7. If your sound card is now up and running, you may now install the Service Pack 3 of your Windows.
Summary: The sequence of installing these device drivers of Asus P5GC-MX motherboard is first, install the driver of the motherboard before the installation of Windows Service Pack 3.
